Robotic Hip Replacement & Hip Surgery

With the use of the Mako Robotic-Arm, our orthopedic surgeons now have access to medicines most advanced technology in performing total hip replacements. This technology allows our specialists to reach new heights of surgical accuracy and generates more consistent outcomes in the operating room. It’s important to note that all operations are still performed by an orthopedic specialty surgeon; the Mako Robotic-Arm is simply a surgeon-controlled robotic arm that guides our surgeon and sets precise parameters that allow for more accurate movements.

Before surgery, the Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology provides you with a personalized surgical plan based on your unique anatomy. From a previous CT scan of your hip joint, the Mako System software can create a 3D replication of your hip. This 3D blueprint is then uploaded into the robot to create a precise map used to assist our orthopedic surgeons in performing your total hip replacement.

Robotic Knee Surgery

Robotic partial knee surgery or total knee replacements use a similar process and uses the same Mako Robotic-Arm as the robotic hip surgeries performed. After a CT scan of the affected joint/area is uploaded to the Mako System, the orthopedic surgeon is able to pre-plan for the knee surgery with a 3D model. These personalized plans allow for a higher degree of accuracy from our surgeons, which creates less trauma to muscles, ultimately leading to decreased pain following surgery and typically lead to quicker recovery times.

Robotic Spine Surgery

Back surgery has made rapid advancements in the last ten years. Azalea Orthopedics is proud to be one of the few orthopedic centers in Texas to offer robotic spine surgery. With the use of the Mazor Renaissance Guidance System, our orthopedic surgeons are more than 99% accurate with procedures and have better recorded patient outcomes (including reduced hospital stays, fewer complications, postoperative infections, and revision procedures).

Before each operation, the Mazor system’s software converts a CT scan of the patient’s spine into a 3D image. This model then gives our surgeons an individualized picture that is instrumental in creating a pre-operative plane that is used before and during surgery to assist the surgeon alignment of the spine. In addition to pre-planning surgeries, patients who choose the Mazor System will receive customized rods and pins that will be implanted by the surgeon and guided by the robot at the time of surgery.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery is meant to provide a faster healing time and create improved results for patients. These innovative techniques allow the surgeon to cut less muscle, ultimately, resulting in less pain after surgery, quicker recovery times, and less trauma to our patients. All of our robotic systems provide less invasive operations and are designed to create optimal patient outcomes.
